[Solved] clean_url_data_failed

I’ve just set up a vanilla 4.2.0 TXP install with a view to copying a new website across from my local test environment. One of the Pre-flight check messages in Diagnostics is:

clean_url_data_failed: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">

The help is not helpful:

Sorry The help doc you requested does not exist.

I know it’s moaning about clean URLs, and I know I haven’t set anything up yet, and I know the error message will go away … but I’m thinking that TXP could be a bit more informative?

Oops, thanks for spotting that. I’ve added a couple of placeholders on the RPC server for clean_url_data_failed and clean_url_test_failed so you should at least see an entry.

All we need now is to find someone who knows what the hell those errors actually mean and can fill in the help with useful information about possible fallout / resolutions / workarounds. If anyone has any pearls of wisdom, please let me know as I’ve never encountered these messages and don’t know a) the differences between them, b) any ramifications (aside from the fact that you might be stuck with messy mode URLs, though it could be a false alarm and everything’s fine… urk!)

P.S. I added a few more missing diagnostic help messages too. Hopefully I got them all.

Thanks Stef. I guess the plot’s in the title but they look more like diagnostics rather than meaningful error messages. At least if there’s some comforting words in the help, all will be warm & fuzzy again.
