Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.2.0 released
created a fresh install. after everything was finished I logged in for the first time, it took awhile to let me in, and then I landed on a blank page with only the txp logo, and “logged in as (username)”, and a logout link.
What can I give you to help you discern this bug?
I’m on MT’s grid server.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.2.0 released
speaking of versions and builds:
at the bottom of my ADMIN control panel i see the curerent version of texpattern
Is it easy to have an additional line indicating build? So that we would have:
Textpattern · 4.2.0
Build: r3278.

Look into diagnostics, it’s there. That suffices.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.2.0 released
just noticed that i am running Textpattern version: 4.2.0 (r3275) … what is the easiest way to upgrade to latest Build: r3278
Do we upgrade? or do we do a fresh Install of the whole system anew?

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.2.0 released
r3275 is the official public release of Textpattern, 4.2.0, and is deemed stable. The only way to get the latest revisions (currently r3287), which you could call “nightlies” and are not deemed stable (though that doesn’t necessarily mean they are unstable) is by using something called SVN. I would recommend that unless you are used to this type of software and are happy to use a Textpattern revision that could be unstable, you stay away. ;)

nightlies frighten me! And SVN sounds too much like H1N1 to even give it a try.
Thanks … but I will remain on the sunny side and await a new full release.

Re: Feedback to: Textpattern CMS 4.2.0 released
OK, I haven’t posted in ages. Reid posted on his weblog that a fresh version of TXP was released (yeah, I’m behind). So, this morning I upgraded. Now I have an “interesting problem.”
Everything seems to be working until I try to create an entry. The write screen is appropriately displayed, but if I click on “more” (to enter the posting date and time), nothing happens. Well, something happens… the URL in Safari’s target box changes to:
http://www.randomruminations.net/textpattern/index.php?event=article#more
but the expected dialogue is not displayed. The same happens if I click on the Textile, Advanced, or Recent buttons. How do I proceed?
Thanks…
Follow-up… Holy Crap! It’s a “Safari Thing!” For grins I fired up Firefox to test and the expected behavior happened. OK, I generally use Safari because of the connection to the system dictionary (I make typographical errors) and would like to stay with Safari if possible. Does this bit of information help?
Thanks again…

Second follow-up… OK, problem solved so I’ll post here in case someone else stumbles on this issue, which I now think is not related to TXP. Because Firefox worked as expected, I decided to shut down Safari and restart the browser. When I shut down Safari, I noticed a lot of system activity. On restart (of Safari), something was clearly not right. So, I restarted Safari once more and all was well. The buttons in the write panel work as expected.
That was weird. Thanks for listening; no further action necessary.
