A new TXP 4.2.0+ Admin Theme inspired by txpcoder.com

Hey guys,

Inspired by my site, txpcoder.com, and the fact that I wanted more out of the Textpattern admin area, I created a new admin theme for Textpattern 4.2.0+.

I started with the new Remora Theme and modified the menu, added some cool icons (by http://www.pinvoke.com/), lots of rounded corners and a small bit of colour.

A bigger screenshot can be found on Flickr here

You can download it from the Textgarden: <txp:coder /> Admin Theme. Feel free to improve and enhance.

I have tested it on my own setup but have not found any bugs, let me know if you find any and I will fix them.

Let me know what you think and if you think it can be improved upon.

Cheers

UPDATE 29th Oct, 2.40pm GMT: I have updated the screenshot.png file because the original still use the one from the Remora theme which, by the way, is a great theme.

UPDATE 29th Oct, 3.52pm GMT: I have hopefully fixed the Firefox problem.

UPDATE 29th Oct, 6.52pm GMT: I have nearly fixed all the IE problems. The menu works as it should but there it is not fully complete in later browsers.

UPDATE 30th Oct, 01.56am GMT: The IE problems should be fixed. The menu has now been tested in IE 6+, Firefox 2+, Safari 3+ and Chrome. Let me know if I missed anything.

UPDATE 2nd Nov, 08.39am GMT: I have updated the theme to fix some inconsistencies between browsers and should now be pixel perfect…

UPDATE 5th Nov, 03.35pm GMT: The theme is now available at the Textgarden please for any future releases, please use the following link

Clean and beautiful
I’m tempted to say : splendid ! ;)

thanks a lot!

P.S: in Firefox 3.0, there is a 2-3 px gap between the primary and secondary tabs, which prevents to use the nice hover feature.

<txp:coder /> is so nice. Amazed. Kudos to Yusuke Kamiyamane for creating those lovely icons — Fugue adds the finishing touch.

Niiiiiice.

Fancy dropping a note to Stuart over to Textgarden so it can be added to the official list of themes? Ta.

P.S. screenshot.png in the zip file is still of the Remora theme so the chances are that smd_admin_themes will use that as your thumbnail in the grid view. Is screenshot.pxm its replacement? Being a lowly Windoze user I can’t open it to find out :-(

Re: A new TXP 4.2.0+ Admin Theme inspired by txpcoder.com

Thanks guys, those icons are great aren’t they?

@PascalL
I should also say that I haven’t fully tested the theme yet, I know there are a few noticeable problems in IE and as you say, Firefox, I hope to fix them soon.

Please let me know if you find any more bugs and I will try to fix them.

@Bloke
The screenshot.pxm was supposed to be screenshot.png, I have now updated it to include a proper png file. I have already emailed Stuart at Textgarden and am waiting for a response.

Thanks Matt, I’m actually working on the IE issues right now – I can’t get the darn menu to be centrally positioned in IE.

Check back soon for updates.

Good luck with IE ! ;)
I suspect my problem is not related to firefox, but to the fonts installed on my system. Have to check that. I’ll report.

I know, I had to completely change the menu CSS, but it works pretty well now so it was worth it.

No problem, mapu. I thought I should give something back to the community for once.

Just one tiny thing in Safari. The white background of the logout icon intrudes into the light grey bar below it by one pixel when not hovering. Told you it was tiny — but if you’re like me it will drive you crazy.
