Limitations on body post size / blank screen

Experiencing this problem on Txp 4.2.0:

When an article is attempted to be added or increased with a body of more than about 60k clicking ‘save’ or ‘publish’ returns a blank screen and nothing is sized. The php post_max_size and upload_max_size are both 16M. Any ideas? Is the script timing out? Is there some other limitation somewhere?
