Essential? Mmmm, certainly in their day for many folks, but arguably not anymore (I only ever used this one), not with the tag abilities these days and the newer plugins since wilshire’s time. Exception maybe being the Admin DB manager. I suppose wilshire’s plugins hang in there because they’re used ubiquitously from yesteryear, and other developers keep then afloat with patches and whatnot. It would be nice to see wilshire come around again, though you can’t rely on that.

unlimited categories seems to be on many people’s checklist, no?

If they think they need it, sure, but that’s a different discussion altogether. How many categories does an article really need to belong to anyway? Keywords I can understand, but categories? Two has always been enough for my focused articles.

At any rate, I had said that people keep the plugins afloat with patches if need be (and wilshire’s plugins are ubiquitous), so there’s nothing you should be concerned about if you don’t mind patching things.

i thought two was enough categories until i started doing other things with txp. like if i post a podcast episode and i want it to show up on my blog, but also on a flash player on the homepage, and also on a separate itunes feed, i need to be able to check off different categories for the content to end up in different places. you’re right though, it’s another discussion altogether. i just couldn’t have expected this developer to stop his work of all people. maybe users were pissing him off?

I don’t think Rob had any problems with users, I think it is more a case of “life moves on” and he doesn’t have the available time any more.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_show_adv_opts

In 4.2.0 the various toggle states are remembered, so you don’t need the plugin anymore :) That’s probably also the reason why you need to click twice now.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_show_adv_opts

I’d made a Note in the first post of this thread as soon as 4.2.0 was released. Perhaps it should be somewhere else as well? Like on the texpattern.org page? Anyone have a login and can tag this plugin in the ‘state’ box or in the plugin details on that site?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_show_adv_opts

Is anyone else having trouble with toggle states using Firefox 3.5.3 for the Mac? Clicking on things like Advanced Options or Textile Help or More in the Write tab and elsewhere has no effect. Perhaps a Firefox addon conflict? Seems not to be an issue with Safari 4.0.3 on the Mac.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_show_adv_opts

Hi Gary.

Is your issue related to this plugin? because as Stef mentioned, this is no longer needed as from 4.2.0. If it is not – and you are referring to thew default txp install – I use ff3.5.3/mac with no issues so it might be

  • a ff extensions conflict
    • disable all and start enabling them one by one
  • cache problem
    • empty your cache
  • cookies problem
    • enable cookies
    • delete cookies

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_show_adv_opts

Thanks, Colak. I’ve tried to see whether there were add-on conflicts by going the opposite way and disabling them one by one, but consequently with no positive effect. But I’ll try your suggestion as well as your other advice and get back to you.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] rss_admin_show_adv_opts

Okay, okay. Looks like everything is fine now. I’m not sure why I was having trouble before. Thanks for your quick response.
