Deprecated tags in Roowhaline plus a few other problems
Hi there, I’m new to textpattern and was trying to set up the Roowhaline template on my local host server, but I’ve had a few problems. At the top of the page I get two errors:
Tag error: <txp:recent_articles limit=“10” break=“li” wraptag=“ul” sortby=“Posted” sortdir=“desc” class=”“ label=“Recent articles” labeltag=“h3” /> -> Textpattern Notice: sortby attribute is deprecated on line 644
Tag error: <txp:recent_articles limit=“10” break=“li” wraptag=“ul” sortby=“Posted” sortdir=“desc” class=”“ label=“Recent articles” labeltag=“h3” /> -> Textpattern Notice: sortdir attribute is deprecated on line 652
Also, the dark grey box doesn’t seem to be scaling to the contents, it takes up most of the screen and pushes any other content down out of view. This may be related to the tag errors, so hopefully this will be sorted when those are.
The other problem is that the Articles directory doesn’t seem to be able to load the CSS for the page properly, it just displays the text and background image. Haven’t a clue why this is happening though, since it seems to work fine on the other pages. I did change the url for the images within the stylesheet (removed the ../ from in front of images/roowhaline) because none of the pages could find images, but that works fine now for all the other pages and doesn’t explain why the text isn’t being laid out correctly either.
Below are screenshots of the home page with error codes and huge grey box and the broken articles page

Re: Deprecated tags in Roowhaline plus a few other problems
The tag errors can be solved by finding the relevant code (smd_where_used is great for quickly finding things) and replacing this:
sortby="Posted" sortdir="desc"
with this:
sort="Posted desc"
Sometimes these error messages choke the CSS, because they appear outside the html tags and invalidate the page.

Re: Deprecated tags in Roowhaline plus a few other problems
Excellent, that’s sorted all the issues with the regular pages.
Articles page I’ve got a slight update, it seems like it isn’t using the same layout as the rest of the site even though it’s using default style and page. No errors on the page though, so I’ve no idea what’s causing it

Learn how to enable and read a tag trace and post one on the forum if you need help tracking down the problem.

Re: Deprecated tags in Roowhaline plus a few other problems
By the way, Posted desc
is the default value for sort
in related_articles
, so you can leave that attribute off entirely and get the same behavior.

Got the tag trace for the “Articles” page. Do you need one for one of the working pages to compare?

It isn’t, though:
[SQL (0.0010099411010742): select user_html from txp_page where name='archive']
It’s using the ‘archive’ page.

Re: Deprecated tags in Roowhaline plus a few other problems
Ok, that’s just embarassing. I was sure I’d checked that as well.
Thanks a lot for the help with this, that seems to be everything working now

NP. Possible explanation, that often trips people up: in Presentation->Sections each section has its own Save button, and you have to save changes to one section at a time, using the correct button. Kind of strange behavior.
