Possible useful plugins -new project

Hi.

I’m looking for txp-plugins that give my visitors opportunity for writing articles. ( eg. like “submit article” )
For admin approval ofc.

Was thinking of the self-register plugin, but it’s not what I was looking for. A form would be better.

Any?

Another two options:

  1. use zem_contact_reborn and have them submit the articles there.
  2. Anonymous File Upload

Thanx I’ll try these plugins.

Hi jan

ZCR and AFU are. Not sure about mpa but there is no reason why it should not be.

Re: Possible useful plugins -new project

One key plugin set missing here is the mem_moderation suite also from manfre.net. You mention “for admin approval” so that might be appropriate.

The “right” plugin depends to a large degree on your requirements (loose, structured, with or without attachments) and trust in your contributors. If you are just canvassing for contributions, then you won’t need authors to edit their contribution later. If you want contributors to become site co-authors you’ll need edit functionality. A quick breakdown:

  • zem_contact_reborn (as colak mentioned) sends you a mail with their contribution. This is the loosest form and you have to write the article, transferring information via cut and paste.
  • mem_moderation (and mem_moderation_article, _file …) allow contributors to submit articles and routes them via a moderation queue. The admin moderates the submission whereupon it becomes as a regular article. The advantage is you can pre-structure your submission (for example, I have an event form where organiser, start/end times, venue, homepage etc. all get sent to the appropriate custom fields). The disadvantage is that the contributor can no longer edit the article once it has been submitted.
  • mem_public_article (as maniqui mentioned) is a new plugin that allows the authors to edit an existing article. You have to put safety mechanisms in place to ensure that only allowed articles can be edited.
  • AFU / Anonymous File Upload is best used in a protected environment for safety reasons. There is mem_moderation_file too if the file should be managed via txp or if you want an attachment to be submitted via the zem_contact_reborn form, you may want to look at integrating something like jquery.uploadify into your form that uploads your file elsewhere, then lets you know about it via email.
  • ign_password_protect means that contributors have to first logon to contribute. mem_self_register allows them to sign up. If anyone should be able to contribute anonymously, you don’t need any of this. If you will be creating accounts for select people only manually, you don’t need mem_self_register.
  • if you trust your fellow contributors a lot you can make them a backend account with restricted privileges and do without public-side submission forms altogether.
