Upgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.2.0

I am having a problem upgrading from 4.0.4 to 4.2.0.

I get this from the homepage.

“config.php is missing or corrupt. To install Textpattern, visit setup.”

But my Config.php is exactly the same information as before.

and when I login to the under Admin/Diagnostics

“/nfs/c02/h06/mnt/####/domains/mydomain.com/html/textpattern/setup/ still exists ?
You are running a development version of Textpattern on a live server.:
/nfs/c02/h06/mnt/####/domains/mydomain.com/html/index.php ?”

Those errors don’t seem so bad, but I can not figure out why the config.php isn’t working???

So when I go to textpattern setup this is what I get.

“Looks like Textpattern is already installed. If you want to make a clean install, please remove config.php from your /textpattern/ directory and try again”

wait getting closer.

got this error now.

Can’t connect to database

I am using media temple, gonna see what they say.
