[howto] Textpattern quickstart screencast

Hello, checking one two three …

Looks like “How-tos and Examples” is open for business again. Hence,

my first screencast.

It’s the first time I’ve tried putting Quicktime video in a web page, but works so far on the couple of platforms I’ve tested.

Hahaha, nice! The tunes convey that textpattern feeling alright.

I think I’m going to drink some mojitos on the beach now.

Yeah, that’s the spirit!

Although I never had troubles with non-writable images- and files directories, neither on a remote- nor local host (MAMP). The Terminal stuff looks a bit scary :)

Perhaps we could have an alternative version with a tune by the B52’s ?

Jan, enjoy your Mojitos!  Do you by any chance like Caipirinhas, too?

Jeff,

Nice screencast, the tunes are cool.

I have to confess that I came upon this image while doing a Google search of Textpattern images. I’m using it on a holding page for one of my domains, I hope it’s ok.

Jan: good plan!

Martin: What file permissions do you use for /images and /files? On download I have 755 for both, then invariably have to change them (either in Finder->Get Info window or Terminal, as one prefers).

Matt: It’s Penguin Cafe Orchestra. (And the Mac is a 3.5-year-old G5 iMac.)

Bert: No worries.

It seems that wherever I install Textpattern, it defaults to 755 and I’ve never had problems with it.

Re: [howto] Textpattern quickstart screencast

755 works on my live server, but not my local as I have it set up. But then I’m not using MAMP; is ownership somehow handled differently in MAMP?

It should be just up to the users.

I thought it picks up the OS’ permissions, too.
That would explain why I’ve never had that problem: my work files are on a HD set to ignore permission settings ;)
