Just off the cuff, has there been any discussion to roll similar functionality into the core? Custom schemas are an important piece of good CMSes (and out of the box for most), so I’m just curious if there are any future plans to expand the functionality of custom fields? (And, on a similar note, add custom fields / schema options for other types of data like images and files.)

Has been, but:
- I’d rather see an own thread for this
- IMHO, this is mainly a matter of target audience: Will Textpattern stay a “designers’ CMS”, or would there be greener pastures in the realm of “developer CMSs” like Drupal?

Yikes! I was almost afraid that last post thread emailed to me was about the new release. I got to get some sleep but probably would have stayed up all night. :)

OK, so a lil’ bird told me that glz is running on a vanilla 4.2 install with a whacking big pile of extensions. Then it flew away.

I apologize for remarking on how excited I was for the new plugin release. Furthermore I apologize for not having met that bird or knowing how to access the currently running glz. If someone could point me to I’d appreciate it.

Just to confirm the rumours, there is indeed an early preview release of glz_custom_fields running on TXP 4.2.0 without any TXP patches required (again, THANK YOU ROBERT). There are a few last minute things which still need to be looked into because I couldn’t resist of not adding any new functionality, it’s going to be worth it!
