update PHP version with .htaccess

Hey!
My server is running on php 4
and for running applications of php5 I been told (by Godaddy) to use this code in the .htaccess file:

AddHandler x-httpd-php5 .php
AddHandler x-httpd-php .php4

so now I can run plugins for php5 (like soo_page_numbers)
and in the Diagnostics page it says that my php version now is 5.2.5

all works great!
but is it fine and good using that code please?

here are the 2 links to the help pages on Godaddy site:
