6of3 - official Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy site

6of3

Find out more about the sixth instalment of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, And Another Thing…written by Eoin Colfer, as well as the Hitchhikers trilogy, books, details of the 30th anniversary, events, and stuff…

Sailing on the good ship 4.2.0 with plugins galore and plenty of tag magic. <txp:yield />, <txp:variables /> and <txp:article> article containers </txp:article> – I salute you all!

Hats off to Bloke and Maniqui for their considerable skills and no little patience in getting her afloat.

This is way cool. i read all 5 of Adam’s books. A 6th huh? i’ve got my towel out and getting ready for my next intergalactic hitch-hike.
Maybe you should check the validation and also on http://www.6of3.com/authors/douglas-adams is there a reason the film was omitted?

Whoa, very nice indeed! I mean, never heard of this hitchhiker thing, and I probably would never visit such a site for another reason than by accident ;) but it’s really, honestly great to see a site like this, built with Txp! Love the calendar.
Great work, guys!

Re: 6of3 - official Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy site

Thanks all.

Colak, I’m slowly inching towards total validation, though most of the remaining ones are from 3rd party code that I’m loathed to meddle with for fear of opening a can of worms. Don’t think there was ever a video planned for the Douglas Adams page. There were plans made for an archive of clips from the TV series, film and some radio broadcasts, but they didn’t make the cut sadly.

What a great looking site.

On the timeline, are the dates placed programatically somehow, or just individually using css?
Also, what font is the main nav in? It perfectly suits the site.

Thanks Nora

The y-position of the timeline dates are done with a combination of CSS and some nifty txp:variable conditionals — really just a variation of Wet’s flip/flop example — though the tag-fu in this case was done by Maniqui

       <txp:if_variable name="alt" value="">
          <txp:variable name="alt" value="alt" />
        <txp:else />
          <txp:variable name="alt" value="" />
        </txp:if_variable>

      <li id="date_<txp:posted format="%Y" />" class="teaser <txp:variable name="alt" />">

Also, what font is the main nav in?

It’s TheSans

Re: 6of3 - official Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy site

Pieman, are you working right now on your site?
I can only see lots of error mesages, and unstyled content.

P.S ah, everything is fine again, although very slow
