yes another user profile question

hi there, i see a lot of threads pointing to mem_self_register, but for a project i’m specing out it’s not a requirement that users have to sign themselves up. it can be done by the admin.

now i’m wondering, is it possible for each user to have a page in the system? from what i read it has to become a section some how. does the admin have to create a section for them each time a user is made?

and my other question is, without hacking apart the innards of txp, is there a permission role where the users can only see their content and not everyone else’s in the backend? the last thread i read on the subject says you have to apply a patch, and with the release of 4.0.2 i dont want to be using many patches these days.

Re: yes another user profile question

There is a great plugin which does exactly this (hides articles written by others).

Alternatively, bot_privs has an option (“Can see all articles”) to toggle visibility of other people’s articles in the CMS for each user level.

Re: yes another user profile question

great thank you. is it ok to keep asking questions? i just didn’t want to make it too confusing off the bat, but i’m wondering if it’s possible for users in the system to send and receive private messages? this thread implies that it might be possible with txphorum. if you can’t tell i would do anything to not have to touch drupal again in my life ;)

EBL QuickNote can do this, but the ransom hasn’t been met. Plain email is an option too (display a list of emails with adi_notes, jmd_dashboard, etc.).

Re: yes another user profile question

very cool! i think it would be hard to meet the ransom though if the messaging isn’t done in the front end with custom css. having all the best functions of the cms sitting in the backend make it hard to adopt it to other community projects. anyways i keep my hopes up that the program will continue to grow in this regard.

Re: yes another user profile question

is it possible to assign a rating to authors? and then additionally sort the authors by rating? the ratings are not submitted by the community directly in the site, but the admin of the site assigns the ratings manually.
