Re: glz_custom_fields

Gerhard/Stef – my comments earlier re the drop down select boxes not working on the public side (nor the the search feature) hold true for Stef’s mod – I tried it earlier.

I didn’t think I let the plugin out of my sight; got no record of sending it to you (weird…), but I guess I must have made an exception since you were an existing subscriber and asked nicely ;-)

For the record I didn’t look at the client side portion so there’s every chance it continues to unfunction. I only needed it for the admin side, so that’s the bit I tinkered with. If I were you I’d forget my mod ever existed and wait for the official version anyway; relying on someone else’s hackery when that person is waaay out of their depth in someone else’s code is a recipe for something other than cookies made in heaven!

Re: glz_custom_fields

Stef, I got the file from Jakob, and yes, I am a subscriber. Jakob was sharing some info on one of his sites and also trying to help with an issue involving glz_custom_fields.

Just wanted to mention the errors for Gerhard’s benefit really. I am waiting for the next release…;-)

Ahhh, that explains it; we’re working on a site together using TXP 4.2.0 and glz_cf is an integral part. Thought I was going mad for a moment there! Thanks for clarifying. We now return to our original broadcast…

Sorry, my fault. We’re all discussing similar problems and looking at the same site. We’re also all paid subscribers. I promise it’s gone no further.

Re: glz_custom_fields

Yeah, I just didn’t want my butchery getting out into the Real World because it’s a slur on Gerhard’s good work. Plus I didn’t bump the revision number or rename it, so things could get mighty confusing if Gerhard started getting support requests from my inexperienced meddlings.

Hopefully by the weekend everything will be back to normal and we can forget I even did it!

Re: glz_custom_fields

Gerhard,

I was wondering what the status is with the planned Trigger Words feature ?

An automatically populated drop-down of, for instance, image-categories would be extremely useful :-)

Re: glz_custom_fields

how do i get the form to display inline in a row, rather than have line breaks after each form element?

my other question is: did the glz_custom_article tag disappear? it’s no longer in the help but used to be in earlier examples. right now i’m just calling articles with the normal article custom and that seems to be working.

Yeah, I agree, the letter of the law allows for legal distribution. But I guess it’s a courtesy issue, ie, if Gerhard sets conditions on releasing code into the wild, and those conditions make the difference on whether we all get to use that code. I’ll happily abide.

I think the problem is that this kind of thing creates a bottleneck. That’s why I kinda prefer the ransom model. One important person gets busy(all due respect Gerhard), and we all twiddle our thumbs for a while.

Re: glz_custom_fields

Someone having trouble when they have more than 10 custom fields?

All the fields over the #10 (11 to 20) dont show up in the sections tab (using sed_section_fields).
Not sure if this is a problem with sed_section_fields or glz_custom_fields
I am using Gerhard´s version of Textpatter.

It has been an issue before, but now my client cant stand all the customefields unorganized anymore…
Has someone had the same issue?
Is anyone using these 2 plugins at the same time and has more than 10 custom fields?

Is there anything I am missing?
Thanks!

Re: glz_custom_fields

i just noticed a weird behaviour concerning custom fields as well,
using Gerhards branch of Txp 4.08 together with his glz custom fields plugin v1.2.

If there is a gap in “custom sets” the values assigned to the custom fields coming after the gap will not be given out when using these custom fields on the page. from my beginner approach i`d say the custom set numbers would have to be updated when deleting a custom field, for example:

When deleting custom_25_set (with custom_26_set etc following) the following sets need custom_currentnumber-1_set to work.

Sorry for the lack of professional terms here but i didnt know how to put it better. Hope this helps someone, just lost two hours figuring this out because custom fields were behaving strangely.
