Need help with lists
I’ve almost done a whole new website redesign, but I’m slightly stuck with wanting to recreate detailed lists on my website in textpattern.
I’d like to discuss with someone one on one how to do this by email, showing them my current website, and how to implement the same lists in textpattern.
Basically I’ve got different goals that are the separate pages for the content. Each goal has a specific list of steps. Each step has a picture, a description, and a point value. Here is a rough sketch of what the layout of a page would look like:
Goal (page)
Synopsis of goal
Steps
1 – picture – description – point value
2 – picture – description – point value
3 – picture – description – point value
(etc. for as many steps as there are for that goal, different for each goal)
I’d like to be able to have users submit tips for individual steps, but that’s getting even further in depth.
Please feel free to email me through here or to point me in the right direction.

Hi futuramastud,
Did you receive an email from anyone? If you didn’t, if you give some more info we may be able to help.

Re: Need help with lists
Sorry I wasn’t able to make myself clear. I don’t want to share my actual website out of privacy concerns because my web admin quit on me, locking me out of all the passwords and entry to my server. So I’ve recreated a new website, but haven’t had much experience with pHp or databases. I started working with Textpattern and it has been a great help, but with the real bulk of my content, I haven’t been able to figure out a decent way to move it over using textpattern.
Maybe a better example is to think of it in terms of a scavenger hunt. Let’s say my site is dedicated to creating different scavenger hunts. A pirate scavenger hunt would be one page, a ninja scavenger hunt another page, etc. So with each scavenger hunt, there’s a list of items that need to be found. Each item on this list would have a picture of what needs to be found, a description of what needs to be found, and a point value. This may be extremely easy, but for some reason, I’m clueless as to how to do this with Textpattern.
Ninja Scavenger Hunt
1 – Find a throwing star – Picture of throwing star – 57 points
2 – Ask a ninja a question – Picture of fat ninja – 221 points
3 – Find a sign in an asian language – Picture of japanese candy shop – 301 points
etc.
total items – total point values
I hope that’s more descriptive. I do have the book, but couldn’t really find this idea in there. Maybe it’d be easier to input this info straight into a database, but I really wouldn’t have any idea on how to do the pHp.
Again, if anyone does help, I thank you for your time. :)
