Re: Postmaster Revamp (Ransom met!)

colak wrote: Maybe a discussion should start regarding the naming of the plugin.

  1. its actual name txp:postmaster does not adhear to the 3 digit signature of txp plugins
  2. Now that the plugin is changing hands, a new name should be found so as not to have members confusing it with the old one – although compatibility with existing postmaster lists should IMO be maintained.

Dale can you slightly expand on this one? For example: I take it that a “Do Not Send” feature is maintained.

Sure lemme ‘splain

  • It’s now “mem_postmaster” (All due respect for the Brooster)
  • Instead of clicking save, with either “Test” or “Yes” selected to do a mailing you now have two buttons that are collapsed with the postmaster area by default. These buttons are “Send to List” and “Send Test”. IMHO it’s far more intuitive (and far less of a loaded gun scenario) than clicking “save” to send messages.

Make sense?

Re: Postmaster Revamp (Ransom met!)

Makes almost sense.

What happens if I edit an existing article and hit the “Send to list” or “Send test” button without saving it? Do those button save and send? Or do those buttons send the un-saved version? or do those button send the already saved-before-editing version (totally undesireable)?

I will keep the “Save and then send” way of doing things. So the button read something like “Save and send to list” or “Save and send test”.

Make sense?

Re: Postmaster Revamp (Ransom met!)

That’s what I don’t get:)

maybe I should rephrase my question.

Does the plugin give an option to just publish/save an article without posting it to any (postmaster subscriber) lists?

Yes. Most of the time you’ll happily ignore the Postmaster area (it’s collapsed by default) and it will behave just as you’d expect the write page to behave.

When you want to do a mailing click on “Postmaster” (which looks like “More” or “Advanced Options”) and it reveals the new buttons “Send to list” and “Send Test” which save any changes you’ve made, then send the article.

Donated. Sounds like a well thought out overhaul.

Re: Postmaster Revamp (Ransom met!)

Plugin is undergoing final testing and sign off from dale.

The following should be added to the feature list.

  • Multi edit support for the lists tab. This will allow an easy way to remove everyone from the selected lists, or add everyone to the selected lists.
  • Auto subscriberLists migration for existing postmaster users.

Yep. We currently have 1500 subscribers. I’d hate to insert threm in manually

Fear not, my Greek friend. I did a 2100 user import twice yesterday. One step in mere seconds, clean as a whistle, with no errors. Manfre’s got da chops.
