Image filenames

It is commonly known that images named <keyword>.jpg tend to attract a larger amount of iage traffic than simply <number>.jpg. Now, I know I can hack into the database, change all image filenames there and do the same on my webserver, but is there a plugin that does this for you? I find txp’s standard image filenames simply unsatisfactory.

Re: Image filenames

You would have a very hard time hacking the DB and the Server to make textpattern work with names instead of ids.

Re: Image filenames

I’ve never seen anything (even a detailed hack) that will accomplish this.

Re: Image filenames

very unlikely this will happen. its a minor inconvenience that unfortunately stems from TXP’s roots, and the devs understandably are not interested in switching this behaviour due to backwards compatibility.

Giving them proper alt texts and captions goes a long way to overcome this restriction.

Are there any other CMSs out there that handle that differently?
I’ve seen far worse and obscure automatic naming such as total random strings. Most end users don’t seem to care at all.
