Starting Over

Despite various attempts to remove it I still have this message in red under my list of images under the images tab:

Warning: cannot write to image directory
/home/julian/public_html/dp/images.
Please change file permissions to 777.

Ever since this message appeared I have been unable to upload any new images.

What do I do?
