Which version of TXP do you use?
I am assuming it’s an older one as it was set up for me by a friend back on 2005. I know there is newer version (which I have downloaded). Can someone walk me through the installation process please? As a newbie to website creation, I am struggling with the complexity of the whole thing.

Re: Uploading images
I’m reading through the Detailed Installation Instructions now.

permissions
Check this page in the docs and see the explanation about the errors and notices lower down. You’ll see a notice of the folder permissions are not sufficient.
The only permissions you need to set are for the folders i.e. the /images/
directory and /file
directory. You do this using your ftp program. Usually one right-clicks (on the mac Get Info) on the folder in question, then sets the permission to whatever they should be.
upgrading
Wow that must be an old version. txp’s had a diagnostics tab for as long as I can remember.
See the following page in the docs for upgrading to a new version of txp.

Re: Uploading images
Yikes. I’m just at Step 2 and already I see a problem.
The installation instructions list the seven different files and folders included with Texpattern 4.0.8 (http://textbook.textpattern.net/wiki/index.php?title=Detailed_Installation_Instructions)
I have downloaded the new version of Textpattern twice and there are seven files and folders, except the important .htaccess file is replaced with a file called HISTORY.txt
Should I go ahead and install?

Re: Uploading images
the .htaccess file is still there, but it’s a hidden file on some operating systems.
