Writing new articles

How come when I go to the “write” tab and compose an new article then click on publish, it is never saved under the “articles“tab? The articles disappears unsaved! This is a new development as the function used to work.

Re: Writing new articles

Have you tried to refresh the page (the ‘articles’ tab)? Or to clear the browser cache? Can you use phpMyAdmin to check if the articles are in the database?

Re: Writing new articles

I am so new to all this. Refreshing and cache clearing don’t work. What is phpMyAdmin?

Re: Writing new articles

Assume you saved the article as “Live”?

Re: Writing new articles

Indeed, after writing a new article I clicked on publish (live) and the article disappears. Now I can edit already existing articles and save them with changes, but I can’t write, save or publish new ones. In fact, when I go to the write tab there is only a publish button. Shouldn’t there be a save button also?

Re: Writing new articles

For new articles there should be a “Publish” button, for existing ones, it is replaced with “Save”.

Do you give titles to the new articles? I think that they can not be saved without them.

Re: Writing new articles

Articles without titles are saved as well. In the ‘articles’ tab untitled is displayed in the ‘title’ column.

Julian, you can usually access phpMyAdmin through your hosting provider’s control panel (cPanel, Plesk, etcetera). It’s a tool to browse and edit your database. If you can find it, browse the ‘textpattern’ table, that’s where the articles are stored.

Re: Writing new articles

Hey, I tried writing a new article. This time I gave it a title (duh) and a body, selected a category and a section for it, clicked publish and voila… it works! Thanks to all for troubleshooting for me. As mentioned, I am new to this and appreciate all your help.

Yeah well, if you don’t enter anything I can imagine it won’t be saved ;) Glad you worked it out!
