rpc.textpattern.com help in Chinese

I’m a Chinese. So i use zh-cn for LANG.
The textile help link would take me to

http://rpc.textpattern.com/help/index.php?item=textile_comments&language=zh-cn

But there’s no help. I’ve noticed that the language en-us exists.
So that is racial discrimination… :(

Textpattern is an open source project with contributors from around the world. If something doesn’t exist in your language, it is because no one who able to provide that help has stepped up and done so.

Do you honestly perceive that as discrimination?

Hey guys, yarco is offering a translation for the Textile help text! Thanks yarco, and I hope you were not too serious about the discrimination, it’s just like maverick said.

Now all we need is someone to add this to rpc.textpattern.com.

yarco

The thing I don’t get (I don’t fully understand the way languages work in TXP yet, forgive my ignorance) is that all the strings you translated in your original post are already translated on the RPC server. You should see them in your copy of TXP. If you are not seeing them, there’s something wrong somewhere.

However, you are right that quite a lot of the help text (when you click the ‘?’ links) has not yet been translated. In fact it’s not been translated in many of the languages that are part of TXP, so you are not alone! I’m not quite sure how to go about translating stuff but I’ll make myself a translator acount todays and see if I can figure it out.

There are already 3 registered zh-cn translators; two of them have not logged in for many years but one of them is still active. Would you like a translator account as well for zh-cn?

P.S. some of the help text is translated, for example about privileges

EDIT: OK I tried it out. It’s pretty easy actually. When you’re a registered translator you click the Help popups link for the language you have been assigned. All the strings are listed down the side. You click one and see two boxes: the English text at the top and blank box for your translated text below that. Simple.

Re: rpc.textpattern.com help in Chinese

Hi Bloke,

So how to become a registered translator? I didn’t see any link about that…
Or do you mean following this post http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=10594 ?

Re: rpc.textpattern.com help in Chinese

Get it.

And translate one:
http://rpc.textpattern.com/help/index.php?item=textile_comments&language=zh-cn

Oh…there are a lot of red links.

Excellent, thank you!

Yes there are… and not just in zh-cn :-(

It’s times like these I wish I wasn’t such a heathen and could speak more than one language, so I could help out translating. The only language I could probably translate the interface to would be Pirate if it was officially supported in TXP ;-) Arrr, shiver me timbers, hoist the main sail…
