Textpattern driven news publishing site ?

Hi.

I’m completely new in TextPattern, but looks like it could fit me perfectly. (Lightweight, nonBloated) I’m going for a news site. I’ve tested TextPattern (default after install) and themeing issues I’ll overcome, but I need some plugins . These are hard to locate, soo many websites offering plugins.

I’ll set a list of needed plugins/features for this project.

1. Latest news (list in sidebar)
2. Related items
3. Social bookmarking (bottom page in fullview)
4. captcha (?) ..dont know really if I need this.
5. Latest comments

Open for suggestions further those I’ve listed

I’ve found plugins for twitter, ‘self_register’ and contact.

Wordpress suits me well in this project, but I would rather used e107 even if they lack clean urls at the moment.
I really hope somebody can help me with this. Wordpress is’nt the thing for me, it’s all to bloated and unsecure. The only thing about wordpress that REALLY ROCKS is the activity in their support forums.

Welcome to txp

For most of what you are requesting no plugin is needed

1. Check out article_custom
2. Related_articles
3. Choice of plugins or you can do it with native txp tags
4. captcha is not needed for most sites. We have comment preview which prevents bot postings.There is nevertheless a plugin should you wish to use it
5. Many comments plugins are available
