I went to a link on the page you sent (http://textpattern.com/faq/225/what-does-the-production-status-setting-do) .. has similar info but it also mentioned browser caching as being enabled in live mode and disabled in testing and debugging. Could this be the culprit for the plugin problem? (not the txp tag problem we are also talking about in this thread)
