Well it’s not too slow, just bit overbloated :). Compared to get_browser(), and some other header functions, it’s really fast.
I think you won’t need to change it (it’s just fine as it is :P), because the parse_url() is only used when redirecting, and called only once per request.
I was just thinking aloud :)
