Local Setup with MAMP URL stopped working
Hi guys, I’m new Textpattern but wanted to give it a good try out.
I’m currently setting up a local development environment on my Mac at work whch run 10.4.11. I’m using the Textpattern Solutions book to help me get to know TXP and following the instructions for a local install.
Yesterday it was all working but today something has gone awry. I have TXP installed and have everything configured as chapter 2 of the book says I should so that I can type in mydomain.dev and it’s displayed correctly. After a restart today this seems to have stopped working. Typing mydomain.dev gives me an “Index of /” page instead of the home page of the Textpattern install as it was doing yesterday. The MAMP home page at localhost/mamp displays correctly.
Has something changed with the install? How can I make it behave again?

Are you sure you didn’t accidentally remove index.php?

Re: Local Setup with MAMP URL stopped working
Yep the the index.php is still there. Under mydomain.dev folder I have files, images, rpc, textpattern folders and a single index.php file. I’ve arrived at work this morning and it is still behaving as it was when I posted on Friday.
Also when I visit mydomain.dev the “Index of /” page lists the folder of my site. When I click it it displays a 404 page. with no CSS formatting.

Re: Local Setup with MAMP URL stopped working
I ended up reinstalling everything and beginning again.
This time I used VirtualHostX as I do at home to set up the example.dev style URL’s. TXP is working except for some reason the clean URL’s test fails. The .htaccess file is in the right place and I haven’t altered it. How can I get clean URL’s working?

The clean URL test failure doesn’t always mean clean URLs don’t work — have you tried loading some pages in a clean URL mode?

Re: Local Setup with MAMP URL stopped working
Just tried setting my url scheme to /section/title and navigated to a page and received a 404.
I’m slightly confused because it seems in general people who use MAMP have clean url’s work out the box.

Re: Local Setup with MAMP URL stopped working
I won’t be much help here — I can’t figure out why I have clean URLs on my OS X.5 machine but not my OS X.4 machine. Using built-in Apache server in both cases.

It must be something Tiger related. Anyone have any ideas?
