Section Form

I noticed in the create new form their is a drop-down item called section. What exactly is a section form? How does it differ to the others such as article, misc, etc

Hi, I don’t get what it does different though. Does it just allow customization of the section list?

There is no difference which form type you select. The only purpose (i guess) is sorting forms list by their type for user’s convinience.

Re: Section Form

Yeah, I don’t think that there is any functional difference between all the types of forms other than article forms.

Even article form has no other meaning than the sorting in the form list and tagbuilder. It’s just presentional.

Re: Section Form

Hmm, so it’d be nice to have user defined form categories and a show hide toggle for each… that’d be a nice core patch, bring it inline with the sidebars of the write page.

It says that ‘only article forms can be previewed’; presumably other types can’t. Not that I’ve ever figured out what the point of previewing a form is, nor how one goes about doing it…

Hehe, presentional thing ;) But eventually also article forms are just the same as the other, and can be used as misc forms if needed. We could say that the types are just presentional helpers.

I found that it’s great feature that all forms are treated the same. For example makes it possible to reuse same form in many many situations.

Re: Section Form

Surely comment, file, and link forms are different?
