Re: TxP.com home page
I’m not offering myself now, but I already offered myself long time ago, and in fact, I was in the list of people that would (have) like(d) to be included on the team.
(taking my pill…)
I’ll wait to see the results before posting my usual timid ranting (of which I often quickly regret).
But I would let you know what I expect for this upcoming site.
And I’m not saying (yet) that I would not like to see any kind of whales floating on TXP.com.
I’m talking about progressive enhancement, graceful degradation, well done image replacement (if any), all pages validating (or at least, with a ultra minimum of warnings) edit: and a few etceteras, including an acceptable level of cross-browser cross-operative-system compatibility (IE6+, at least).

He does this sort of thing for a living don’t you know.
As many of us here, who are also usually hangin’ at TXP forums and are more up to date about the project (edit: I’m talking about TXP as a project, not particularly the redesign of TXP.com) in general, not just doing PR and self-promotion..
And now, I’m already regretting of posting…

Re: TxP.com home page
Did you ever think about implementing a project manager for this all (main design, admin theming contest)?
Someone who guides the process, sets up a timeframe, pushes communication, talks to the interested audience and passes over little tasks?
My 2 cents that would help.

Re: TxP.com home page
Sorry for the lack of reply’s all. We are working on the site, and working through small quirks. Like many TXP projects, this happens in between professional work that requires our time so can feed our family :)
We’ve implemented a first version, and as we put in the content, it became more clear where we needed to shift things. I’m working on that this week, and hope to have some movement on it before long.
Thanks for your patience. All is well.
Matthew

Re: TxP.com home page
Hi Matthew,
thanks you for your kind reply. Much appreciated.
Your boys did really grow and look sooo sweet :) .. no(!) doubt from my side kids have to be fed, sandboxes build and so much more…
But now it is time to set up a deadline. Every client sets up deadlines. They are not pleasant but in the end help a lot .
- Did you, who ever is involved, talk about a precise deadline?
- When has the desing to be finished?
- When is the last day for coding?
- Which day the stuff has to go live?
Can you post a precise day when site goes live?
It´ll help you (who ever is involved) more than me or anybody else here. Believe it or not. Thanks for reading

Re: TxP.com home page
Alex,
I’m not planning on a placing myself in those constraints for a volunteer project.
I’ve spoken with Robert, and we are making headway, and all is well :)

Re: TxP.com home page
Matthew, no need to get upset not at least after 260 days without any constraints ;)
(one day your boys will go to school, i bet you, you will be after them they get their homework done – and i promise, they will answer a hundred times: daddy, i hope to have some movement on it before long.. ; have to laugh when thinking of what you will be saying then :) how many times you argue with them…)

Re: TxP.com home page
Stuart, Matthew, Wet
Thanks for the details.
Though I don’t understand the apparent secrecy/silence up to this point, and it’s been a fair amount of time, work or not, which is why it’s even more courteous to give a short update once in a while instead of letting people think it’s just been a stalled effort.
I think we could all due with remembering that there are still a few people left in the community that feel strongly about Txp in some way or another and you don’t take that lightly. Not everything needs to be a community project, and this project has certainly proven itself to be one of those cases, but we still need to communicate change and progress however it unfolds or this community will only be the worse for it.
I’m looking forward to seeing the the new site. A parallel launch with the new release would be a nice goal, and appropriate.

Re: TxP.com home page
Well just to update you a bit more Matthew gave us a re-designed header yesterday which includes Philipp’s new logo and goes some way towards handling the sub-menu options. Still needs a bit of work but we are progressing.
I should reiterate that the “parallel release” idea was mine alone. I don’t know what the others think about that.
