WordPress Plugin compatibility...

Hey,

I literally just came across TextPattern last night, primarily because my current WordPress blog seems to be damaged beyond repair (it was absolutely fine, I hadn’t did anything more than log into the admin area just in case there was anything I had to deal with, but didn’t change anything for weeks, then one day it just didn’t work). It’s actually ironic, coz I’d set up a test blog where I’d try things out first before editing the live blog, in an effort to avoid this kind of thing, and the test blog is absolutely fine :-o

Anyway, truth be told I’m getting sick of how temporamental WP is with regards to plugins…My aim was to convert it into a mini-community/social network dedicated to those interested in my projects, and I’d just about pulled it off (see the test blog for an idea of what I mean: http://weareblogging.0fees.net/blogs/waw_blog). I was looking for an alternative to WordPress and this was the first result returned by google, but before jumping I’d really like to know if it’s possible to use WordPress plugins with TextPattern? I know there are several TextPattern specific plugins, but I couldn’t find all the types of plugins that I’d need in order to reproduce what I had with WordPress.

Also, is it possible to use them with Drupal or Joomla?

Cheers guys,

Lee

No, it’s not possible to use plugins written for one CMS with another CMS, unless they happen to use the exact same format. To my knowledge, none of the CMS’ you mentioned do that. All you can do is “port” a plugin, meaning re-write it to work for the other system.

I’m an ex-WordPress user and to put it simply, Txp can do whatever WP can and more. Just ask the guys/girls here (best forum i’ve ever seen) and someone will be able to explain how to do what you want etc.
