MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

I tried to import the Dutch strings for both MLP and zem contact(zem_contact_lang-mlp.nl-nl.inc) but i get this message when i do “This is not a valid string file.”

It seems these files are not in the same format as the exported strings, and seem to be compressed or something (pls excuse my noobness). What do i need to do to get these files in a format that MLP can import?

It works for me. Don’t go to the ‘Export/import’ tab, do it like this:

download the .inc file and open it in a text editor
select all and copy the content
go to MLP > Plugins, click on the plugin name on the left
paste the content of the .inc file in the box on the right and click ‘Import’

It works the way you instructed thank you again. However this is different to the instruction video.

I’ve never seen it. Can’t get it to play for me… We’ll set up a solid documentation some time I guess. Until then, keep posting :)

I think it’s because you are defining a background image for the li as well as for the a. If you change this:

#sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.en-us, #sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.en-us a

to just

#sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.en-us a

and this:

#sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.es-es, #sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.es-es a

to

#sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.es-es a

it will probably do what you want.

Is this the place for ideas?

Perhaps I am missing something but it would be very handy when in the write tab, to have a link to the other translations of that same article somewhere on that page, (probably best above the title). Or perhaps a pulldown select or some other form element could take you to the other translations. Many times i have wanted to quickly switch backwards and forwards between translations. Possibly showing their ID’s or article numbers.

Even If the article translation hasn’t yet been made it would be very useful to have a link that sends you straight to that article in the MLP > Articles tab. The article number text after the language could function a perfectly as a link.

I’m not ghost but i know why it’s not sitting on top of the parent.
The link has a left margin that pushes it to the right. If you remove that your problem is solved.

margin:0 15px 10px 0;

instead of

margin:0 15px 10px 15px;

I agree it would be a very nice feature.

Els- Unfortunately, that doesn’t solve the issue as that was something I tried a couple weeks back. What happens is that it will remove the translate button that you are currently viewing in. (ie; if you’re in the english page, then the english button will be removed. and vice versa for spanish.) I’ve taken your suggestion to show you what I mean. See site.

The reason being is that the list element without the ‘a’ element has to be there to show the button is present when viewing the current rendition.

Timid’s approach actually does work, though, we both know that the buttons are actually overlapping each other now. If that is a last resort, I will just take his suggestion. I have to believe someone around here has used images instead of text to display the buttons?

dreamer, strange, I thought it worked when I tried it using the Firefox Webdeveloper extension, but apparently I was wrong.

This seems to work better:

#sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.en-us a, #sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.en-us {
	width: 75px;
	height: 25px;
	float:left;
	margin: 0 15px 10px 5px;
       list-style-type: none;
	}

#sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.en-us {

Much better! And I just had to adjust the a:hover element as well to go from this ;

#sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.en-us a:hover {
	background: transparent url(/images/button-english.png) no-repeat left -25px;
	}

to this;

#sidebar ul.l10n_lang_list li.en-us a:hover {
	background: transparent url(/images/button-english.png) no-repeat -5px -25px;
	}

Otherwise, when you hover over the button, the overlapped button will still show up.
