custom textpattern release

Hi all,

Every time I make a new site with textpattern i perform the same preliminary operations (such as splitting the default pages into forms, creating forms of my utility, installing useful plugins).

I simply installed a custom textpattern and every time I start a new site i simply copy the whole directory tree to th new site, import the database, and do the necessary changes to the paths and “pointers”…

I wan’t to go to the “next level” and repack my customized textpattern in a “personal release”.

Is there anyone so kind to explain me how to achieve this goal?

Thank you very much
Simone (Italy)

Re: custom textpattern release

all initial mysql base content is set by running \textpattern\setup\txpsql.php – it contains sql queries with forms, pages, css – everything you can find in txp. You can export your current “custom” textpattern’s tables via phpmyadmin to php-query and edit this file.

Re: custom textpattern release

in this way i’ll have a mirror site, isn’t it? so my password is the same, et cetera…
… or I get a new installation process?

Actually, i understand what you meant, but i don’t know how to proceed… do you have any hint?

Hi Simone,

This is what I do:

a) Zip up the modified program files.
b) Backup the MySQL database to a .sql file.

To install:

a) Unzip to your local drive, modify the config.php accordingly, upload it to a new domain.
b) Create the new database and populate it with the backed up .sql file.
c) Sign on to the backend admin, update path preferences under the advanced tab.

phpMyAdmin is a great tool that can help you out with MySQL backups.
