Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.
Thanks Mary! I must’ve been horribly tired, didn’t spot that.
But that didn’t solve the problem though, ‘cause the image still wouldn’t appear. Again, I’m reposting the code below in the form “movies_alphabetical”. Did I do anything wrong to it?
<txp:if_different><h3><txp:php>echo substr(title(array()), 0, 1);</txp:php></h3></txp:if_different>
<li><txp:permlink><txp:title /></txp:permlink></li>
<txp:if_article_category>
<txp:if_individual_article>
<txp:upm_category1_image break="li" wraptag="ul" height="yes" />
</txp:if_individual_article>
</txp:if_article_category>
The if_individual_article is added as I found Els (or was it another person?) advising it to another guy who has the same problem as me (through searching the forum). Again, that doesn’t work. :/

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.
You won’t need the if_individual_article tag – you use that when you want to use an article form tag outside of a form (which only makes sense in the context of an individual article).
First, view source: is anything (partial XHTML perhaps?) output by the tag? Next, change your debug mode to Testing: any warnings?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.
Hi Mary,
Thanks for being so patient with me.
I’ve now removed the if_individual_article tag. I’ve also checked the source and there is nothing in particular that may refer to the category image. Debug mode does not reveal any errors or warnings either.
Here’s a link to the list page concerned.
Currently, my movies_alphabetical form resembles the following:
<txp:if_different><h3><txp:php>echo substr(title(array()), 0, 1);</txp:php></h3></txp:if_different>
<li><txp:permlink><txp:title /></txp:permlink></li>
<txp:if_individual_article>
<txp:upm_category1_image break="li" wraptag="ul" height="yes" />
</txp:if_individual_article>

Uh, it looks like you removed the if_article_category_tag, not the if_individual_article tag.
Once you’ve definitely got that straightened out, then let’s walk through all the steps. First, what is the name (not title) of the Category1 of the article “Blood Diamond (2006)”? Next, look at the image you want to represent that category. Does it’s name match that of the category exactly (with no file extension)?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.
According to the tag trace of your page, you have not assigned the category 45-stars to that article:
<txp:if_article_category>
[<txp:if_article_category>: false]
</txp:if_article_category>

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.
OK, I saw two duplicate copies of my previous forum post so I removed one of them, but now both of them disappeared. o_O If anyone else happens to be following this particular topic, this is to let you know.
Anyhow, that article has been assigned the 45-stars category (the name, and not title, right? Because what appears in the ). Here’s a collage of the three different relevant pages, just to double confirm it again:
I have also changed the title of the category to 45-stars as well, but nothing is appearing, and the tag trace shows the same thing, it being ‘false’. (I then reverted the category title to 4.5 stars)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.
…I saw two duplicate copies…
A known problem with this particular forum software.
The title never matters, only the names.
I seem to recall, now, that this tag can act very peculiar. If I were you, I would just drop using it – my plugin won’t return anything if there’s no category info (while I try and fix this tag).

Ah, thanks Mary. I’ll try another way a fellow forumer had recommended. :)

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.
Hey, I like the looks of this plugin, is there a way to use it to create a section-specific list of categories? For example, if I had set up a section to contain my image galleries and I used the categories in that section as individual image galleries. Is there any way to get this to work with an image category?

This isn’t an image gallery plugin. Read the plugin help for instructions on how to use it.

Yeah sorry, I mixed up the names of the plugins I was looking at. Sorry to bother you.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.
Is it possible for the “link” or “thumb” attribute to accept another value, that will make a link to the full-size version of the image, rather than the category section? That would be amazing.
Also did anything happen with category description ? Or did I misread that ?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.
What would be the use for that?
No. You might take a look here for various suggestions on category descriptions.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] upm_category_image: Display image for category.
It would make the “thumb” selection useful for some purposes (otherwise using both the full-size image and the thumbnail seems to be impossible ?). Or maybe I am misunderstanding some basic functionality of the tag.
For example, a category page representing a single issue of a publication could list the relevant articles in that issue, using the category image to show a thumbnail of the cover that, when clicked, would show the full-size image. Perhaps this is already doable, but I can’t muster it.
(Thanks for the link ! I have a solution using a custom field relating to the category name and then drawn in using article_custom, i.e.
<txp:article_custom section="summaries" summary='<txp:category1 />'><txp:body /></txp:article_custom>
but that is rather inelegant from the user’s perspective, and I have rather a lot of custom fields already in play. Someone says they are using the caption field, which would work perfectly for my purpose but I can’t seem to figure out how to access that field [possibly because I don’t know how to structure the relevant SQL queries ?])
By the way I make extensive use of several of your plugins, they really expand the range of the platform !
