config.php is missing or corrupt.

Downloaded and installed 4.0.8 but get the following with setup: config.php is missing or corrupt. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

Re: config.php is missing or corrupt.

Did you create the config.php (as told in the setup) into the ~/textpattern/ dir? If you did, what are the contents of your config.php? You did copy the given information into it?

Tip: You need to fill the fields in the setup with valid database information, copy the given config code, save it as config.php, and place it into ~/textpattern/ dir.

Re: config.php is missing or corrupt.

I’m going off the “detailed installation” page even. The modification of the config.php file I think you are referring to is quite further down the list of instructions. Correct me if I’m wrong. http://textbook.textpattern.net/wiki/index.php?title=Detailed_Installation_Instructions
I do remember the previous version 4.0.7 coming with the config file if I’m not mistaken.

No, on a fresh install you always have to create the file. But are you doing a fresh 4.0.8 install, or are you upgrading from 4.0.7?

Re: config.php is missing or corrupt.

I’m doing a fresh install as when I tried upgrading from 4.0.7 to 4.0.8 I had some corruption issues (refer to a previous post) that I never got a concrete answer to. I was new to txp so I didn’t really have any files or such that I needed even though I did a complete backup before upgrading….I went ahead and deleted all 4.0.7 files and started over.

Re: config.php is missing or corrupt.

Ah I see. Is it possible that you accidentally left the old config.php on the server?

Re: config.php is missing or corrupt.

I’ve got Filezilla forced to show hidden files but don’t see anything of the sort in the main textpattern installation (my previous 4.0.7 directory) i.e. config.php. I guess the question I have is: can I get ahold of “just” the config.php file to place in the installation directory?

Re: config.php is missing or corrupt.

I’m really not sure where to go from here? I realize now hindsight “is” 20/20. I should have left well enough alone and stuck with 4.0.7.

Re: config.php is missing or corrupt.

Most of the time problems like this solve themselves when you delete everything and re-install. It’s not that much work ;)
