Odd Image tag behaviour

This has got me scratching my head…

If I place an image in an article using the Textile !full_path_to_image! tag, and the image is in my Txp “images” folder, the article will save straight away, no problem.

If however, I use the same !full_path_to_image! tag with the image on (say) Photobucket, the Save will take ages and will sometimes actually time out.

But…

If I post the image using the HTML “img src…” code, then it doesn’t matter where the image is, the article will save straight away.

Is this expected behaviour? Does the Textile tag really need to get its images from the Txp Images folder? If so, it’s odd that the Save will work at all, but it usually does, though in its own good time.

In this situation, the Preview and HTML tabs in the Write window are unresponsive too.

It’s not the end of the world – I can simply use HTML to post images from my Photobucket account – but I’d rather be able to use the Textile Image tag and Photobucket.

And once saved, the articles themselves open just fine, so this doesn’t affect visitors to the site.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve searched the forum, but to no avail.

Oh – and I’ve posted here rather than in the Textile sub-forum because I’m not sure it’s a Textile issue per se.

Any comments gratefully received.

Added: Hmmm… images render quickly enough in the Textile test page at Textism if that proves anything.
