And Curiouser
It’s been a while since I’ve worked with Textpattern (I’ve been using Expression Engine a lot this last while), but this site seemed like a nice fit. It didn’t take long for me to remember why I loved Textpattern so much.
Anyway, the goal here was to create a very, very clean layout with no visual clutter while incorporating a lot of development ideals, such as using em units for spacing and sizing. I’m extremely happy with how it turned out. Did I mention it validates perfectly, is 100% accessible, and is pretty much pixel-perfect in every browser (with no hacks)? I don’t want to sound like I’m full of my self, but I’m pretty proud of this one. There’s one really minor problem in IE6 (link colours), but instead of fixing the code for IE6, I decided (for the first time ever!) to leave IE6 out of the mix and give the user a gentle warning instead.

nice site… i’d like to see a portfolio with images of their work somewhere. I guess it is still a young site and more content will be added.

Yeah, we had to get the site up in a hurry — we were giving a presentation to a bunch of college students and wanted the site up beforehand. Content will be coming, I promise.

Aaron, Thanks so much for pointing me to your team’s new blog. Even though you guys just started, I’m already impressed with the content that’s been published. As a student designer myself, I found the presentation to the Red River College group to be insightful, something I’ll probably refer back to in the months to come.
One minor detail: I found the line-height of the body text to be a bit tight, cramping the legibility. Considering the articles posted are fairly lengthy, would you consider bumping it up to 1.5em or 1.6em?

Thanks, nemoorange — it’s nice to hear that you found the site helpful.
For the next while, I bumped the line height from 1.2em to 1.5em. My first impression is that it seems too airy, but I’ll give it a day or two to see what people think.
