Re: Multi-Site Patch

I’m interested too, I run some small sites that may benefit from a unique installation (unsure if this may affect performance on a relatively bigger site, but I’m keen to try).

Re: Multi-Site Patch

I’d like to be involved with this too. We’re lining up Expression Engine (which has a mulit-site manager) for a major project soon. It would be great to stay with Textpattern.

Thanks

Re: Multi-Site Patch

Hi All,

A quick update on the multi-site patch. I have submitted the patch to the devs and it is being considered for incorporation into the core. The devs may decide to use it or not, or they may decide to implement their own changes that make multi-site support possible. I am not privy to those discussions, so I can only speculate. But I am hopeful that something will happen soon.

In the meantime, I think it is best to sit back and wait rather than invest further in my current patch. Patches require a lot of effort to maintain and update for each new Textpattern release. I wouldn’t want anyone to become dependent on a patch that I wasn’t fully committed to maintaining, because that would hamper the ability for users of the patch to easily upgrade to new Textpattern releases.

I appreciate all the interest and support!

Sam

Re: Multi-Site Patch

I hope your patch gets included as it’s something I would find very useful. I was considering using ExpressionEngine with the Multiple Site Manager extension for an upcoming personal project but might hold off for now to see what happens.

Out of curiosity would you be able to post any screenshots of the admin interface with the patch?

Hey Sam,

The patch that’s on the mailing list is against 4.0.7, have you submitted one against 4.0.8?

I would release the patch into the wild, with the caveat that you are not responsible to keep it updated for subsequent releases. If the patch gets a life of it’s own, then the community would more than likely handle the updating.
