General suggestion for Archive design?

Hi all,

“Archive” is really a braod term when you think about it… Just a quick show of hands of your favorable option (or a mix of options) of “archive” from the list below:

1. Flat archive based on year. (i.e., the chronologicall standard year-followed-by-months)
2. In additon to chronological archive, provide an archive based on category.
3. In addition to chronological archive, provide an archive based on tag.
4. Any other alternative that you might think useful and cool to have when you land on an “archive”?

Goal is to offer neither “excessive” nor “insufficient” :-)

+ By Author, if it applies. By type, if it applies. By title, if it is useful. I think www.digital-web is (was?) a good example of multiple archive type in one site.
