sending private email
hi all,
I’ve started to use Textpattern recently and had encountered some problems. So I joined the forum. It was good to see very helpful responses that got me over my difficulties. In that process I was asked to provide some additional information vie a private email. I couldn’t do that, because in my setup of the forum contributions I can’t find the button/clickbox for that. In the meantime I’ve checked the available possibilities again and again, but can’t locate the problem. My setting should be OK, I’ve activated the option: Hide email address and activate email form. But the email form doesn’t show up I only see a link to the users website, if thats available. The user I was communicating with told me, that it should be there, but it isn’t. Any suggestions? I hope I place my query at the right place. Thanks for help
Alfred

Re: sending private email
As far as I know there is a setting that determines that new members don’t have all available privileges right away, like seeing other members’ email addresses, posting images. I don’t know when exactly you stop being a ‘new member’, nor if that is something that ‘happens’ automatically, or if a forum admin (ruud or wet) manually has to change the user group.

hi Els, thanks for that piece of information. At least I can stop wandering whether my settings are incorrect.

Re: sending private email
Yep, your user group has to be changed manually by Robert (wet) or Ruud. (We got hit by spammers a while back, sending emails to multiple members.)
