New portfolio site.
I just lost my part-time design gig due to the economy, so needed to get a portfolio up quick smart to start seeking out freelance jobs to get myself through the next couple of years of University. End sob story, lol.
Plug-ins: hak_article_image, zem_contact_reborn, zem_contact_lang, pap_contact_cleaner, rvm_css, rvm_maintenance, rah_metas, jmd_sitemap and hpw_admincss + qrayg’s CSS with modifications to the lib_head.php,
Only just went online today, so I’m sure I won’t be thinking about re-align/re-design for at least a week.
A big thanks to the TXP Community, especially plug-in authors, who are all doing great work.

Re: New portfolio site.
Nice :-)
Maybe you want to change your “Production Status” from “Testing” to “Live”.
Good Luck,

Re: New portfolio site.
Some ideas:
- Work: Maybe an overview page for your work rather than just one by one? But maybe you have a deliberate reason for not doing so.
- Contact: maybe adjust line-height for your heading. It reads “Contact – I hope you weren’t expecting some” (felt a bit non-plussed, am I missing something here). Then I realised that Carl Sagan is supposed to belong to the sentence too but it looks like a separate line (in Safari 3 Mac). That said, I still didn’t get it without having to look up Carl Sagan.
- Your “things to consider” are an interesting approach, but I’m not sure whether it comes across as you intend it. Your “about” page portrays you as a committed, pleasant, family and life-loving individual open to working pro-bono for a good cause. Your “things to consider” has a quite different tone. You may be meaning to protect yourself against bothersome small projects, but you’re also erecting barriers to contact you. You probably mean you’d like serious enquiries but it reads (to me at least) as “I won’t give you a second thought and probably put your project on hold if you’ve not got a lot of money”. Implicit is that you (want to) work on large projects, but that is undone by the “under one week turnaround” in the next section, which is really only a thing that happens with small projects. I’m sceptical whether clients will want to “compensate” you for short-term projects. What you probably mean is that you have surcharge for urgent-work that requires evening and weekend-work.
- Finally, check spelling (committee).
Please take as well-meant constructive advice.

Re: New portfolio site.
Thank you very much guys. Production status is changed (whoops!) and Jakob I truly appreciate the time you took to read all my content and give me feedback! Thank you so much. Have taken it on board and re-written the ‘Things to Consider’ trying to sound a little more like ‘me’ and a little less like a money-hungry business goof. I’m a little bit new to this freelance game.
EDIT: I’m not sure about the work overview, I think it’s more a personal preference thing for me, but when I navigate to another designers site I like to just jump straight into the projects. Though I do suppose I shouldn’t be designing for myself. Thoughts?
