anchors and paging
Sometimes when I click on a link to a “new post” leads me to a forum page which although it is the right topic, the page does not contain the actual post which is always to be found on the previous page of the topic. My pagination options in my profile are empty. I am using the defaults.

I have seen the same thing. For example, if I click on the latest post link it takes me to page 68, but there is nothing there. The latest post resides on page 67.
