newbie looking for guidance and some support for first effort.

i’ve downloaded and installed local host and set-up txp. I’m looking to implement a simple blog. static layout/template can be seen at http://www.flippingpixels.com.
the basic concept is to have 4 sections: video, images, sound and text, with the 5 most recent posts coming to the front page (index?? do i call it that?) each of the sections would have archives for ‘most viewed’ determined by number of views (hits?) and a monthly archive.

i’ve read through the txp book once and intend to follow the process in my set-up. not having done much blogging (yet), it would be nice to get an experienced eye to comment on general approach in terms of functionality and simplicity, and maybe some pointers on how to begin bringing the static template into txp. i also have some questions about embedding flash and image galleries and the use of plugins. i have a beginner/intermediate level skillset with xhtml and css, but am fairly comfortable at this point. i’ve never used php or mysql.

if you go to www.flippingpixels, i must apoligize for the incredibly slow loading time (don’t try this on a dial-up). quicktime wants to load all the files before finishing page load. i’ll be using a flash component and streaming (re-encoding files) in the actual site.

is this an outrageous request or should i be posting elsewhere on this forum?

thanks in advance,
ron

If you’re just looking for support and don’t intend to hire someone to implement this for you, you’d better post in the How do I… forum.
