Error when adding new authors to Textpattern in the Admin>Users panel.
I get the following message when trying to add a new author in the Admin>Users panel:
Warning: mail() [function.mail]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The fifth parameter is disabled in SAFE MODE in /mounted-storage/home115a/sub006/sc66336-WPDV/sitename.com/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php on line 1048
The account for the user in Textpattern seems to be created just fine, but the email that is meant to be sent to that user with their password doesn’t reach the recipient’s inbox.
Anybody know how I can fix this?

I contacted my hosting provider at the same time that I posted here, and they told me that “PHP Safe Mode” was something that I could disable on my own from within the control panel of my hosting account. They said it could take about 3 hours for the changes to kick-in and take effect, but I’ve disabled it and I’ll post back if that worked.
Apparently PHP Safe Mode is a security measure for shared hosting. You learn something new every day.

Thanks for writing, maniqui…
I disabled the PHP Safe Mode in my site, and it worked… I can now send out the password emails.
But are you saying that replacing that file with an older version will mean that I won’t have to turn off PHP Safe Mode?

This is a known bug which will be fixed in Textpattern 4.0.8, due in mid-January.

Does that mean that when the 4.0.8 release comes out, I can/should turn PHP Safe Mode back on?

You can. You need not do it if Textpattern is the only web application you run on your web space. You must consult any other application’s requirements if you run such.
