Gsa @ Cua
Just launched a Txp 4.0.7-powered site for the Graduate Student Association of the Catholic University of America.
Makes extensive use of the new expiration date functionality for the event items – the event dates are the expiration dates, of course. I also modifed taghandlers.php to create a txp:url_title tag, and modified publish.php to provide “expired” and “notexpired” as optional values for the time=”“ attribute on txp:article and txp:article_custom.
Also quite a few places where I’ve used txp tags as attribute values and done multiple nested conditionals.
Plugins used:
- smd_remote_file-0.43
- smd_lib-0.33
- zem_rewrite-0.6m
- zem_contact_lang-4.0.3.6
- zem_contact_reborn-4.0.3.19
- sgb_url_handler-0.1.8.4m
- sgb_error_documents-0.1.2.2
- chh_if_data-0.10
- ob1_title-4.1
- stw_category_tree-1.0.1
- vdh_flickr-0.8.12
- hpw_admincss-0.1
- rss_admin_db_manager-4.3m
- rss_admin_show_adv_opts-0.3
- wet_slimpattern-0.4.1
- mdp_calendar-1.1m (heavily modified)
- smd_random_banner-0.41
- mem_glinklist-0.8.5
The combination of zem_rewrite and sgb_url_handler was essential to the URL structure.
chh_if_data makes the site a lot cleaner by handling cases where content may not yet have been created or may be shown/hidden on a regular basis.
smd_random_banner is powering the images on the home page banner (which are user-submitted by GSA students and managed via Txp’s images tab).
Let me know what you think of either aesthetics or functionality!

Very nice. Tight clean design, tasteful typography. Interesting approach to the main nav. I’ve never seen anyone layout secondary nav items like that before.

I just looked at the previous site… yikes! Those folks owe you many thanks.

Looks way more stylish than the original. Nice one. Like eggnog, I like the way the whole box highlights on the menu bar as well as the secondary nav items. You don’t see that often and it’s quite refreshing.
Also, thanks for the rundown of how you did it. Just out of morbid curisoity, what are you using smd_remote_file for? I can’t find any trace of it.
I also notice you’ve heavily modified mdp_calendar and managed to keep the current calendar showing when you select an event. Shame I didn’t have smd_calendar available while you were developing this: it could have saved you some work.
It’s a very sleek redesign: congrats.

Ah, ok, I tried a couple and didn’t spot the redirect. Must have missed ‘em, thanks for letting me know.
Oh, and some of the pics on the home page banner are ace!
