Removing "Thank You For Your Comment" Message

My article pages are of a pretty bog-standard layout: article, comments below, comment form below that. When a comment is posted, the form vanishes and is replaced with the “Thank You For Your Comment” message.

I know how to change and/or style the message, but is there any way to make it not appear at all, and for the form to not disappear? I just want the page to look the same after someone comments as it did before (apart from the comment that’s just been added of course). :)

Re: Removing "Thank You For Your Comment" Message

I have the exact same question as the above. By default I don’t ask Textpattern to automatically append comments to articles. Rather I handle the placement of comments_preview and comments_form myself.

By the same token, I would also like to override the default behavior that Kevlar mentions, for the same reasons. But it appears as if Textpattern, after posting a new comment, suppresses the comments_form even if I explicitly invoke it.

By analogy with <txp:if_comments_preview> I suppose we are looking for a <txp:if_comment_posted>.

Re: Removing "Thank You For Your Comment" Message

I mean, just take the behavior of this forum as an example of what we are looking for. After submitting your comment, the browser redirects to the anchor associated with your comment, while still displaying the “Quick post” message form at the bottom of the page.

This is precisely the behavior that I am wanting.

Re: Removing "Thank You For Your Comment" Message

i’m working on comments now too. i decided that after about a year and a half of procrastinating on this issue i felt it was time to tackle this. i have to say that the way txp deals with commenting could use a lot of work, and i’m sure a lot of work has been done on this feature to get it to where it is.

i just found that setting up a simple comment form took a lot of thinking power over here.

anyways i’m curious to hear the answer to the above question, i’m not just here to troll ;)

Re: Removing "Thank You For Your Comment" Message

It’s good to know that there are others who share this need.

In my opinion the default behavior of Textpattern in handling and displaying comments is quite good. Placement of the comment_form and comment_preview are handled automatically, although it’s trivial to override this and display the form and preview anywhere you want.

My only question is why comment_form is never displayed after a comment is posted, and if there exists an option to override this behavior.
