Installing a SSL cert on texpattern site...

I don’t have much experience with SSL certs, and was wondering what the process was for installing one on a textpattern site. To be more specific, texpattern is installed in a directory of a larger site, and I only want the textpattern directory secured. Thanks for any help!

You’ll have to consult your webhost about the proper procedure for installing an SSL certificate.
Textpattern can be used on a https:// website. Simply install it there.
As far as I know, you can’t use an SSL certificate to secure a single directory. It applies to the entire domain. You could have both a non-secure and a secured website and put Textpattern on the secure website. By linking from secure (https://example.com/txpdir) to non-secure website (http://example.com) and vice versa you can make it appear to the visitor that it’s one integrated website.

hmm, not sure I get what you’re saying about having a secure and nonsecure site. I do want http://example.com to be non-secure while https://example.com/textpattern-site is secure. I know I’ve seen it like this, where the site only becomes secure when I go to a page with a form for example. Which is basically what I’m doing.

What I mean is: if https://example.com/textpattern-site exists, then https://example.com/ usually exists as well. So there’s a secure domain and a non-secure domain. Doesn’t mean you have to use all parts of it. Moving back from secure to non-secure… that gives a warning message in most browsers. Something to be aware of.
