The most common use for this is desktop-blogging provided you have the appropriate software. This means you can blog without logging in to the admin. Another possible use is blogging from your mobile phone though at the moment I don’t think this is fully enabled in the current XML-RPC. There might well be other stuff I’m not particularly aware of. There’s another thread here you might want to look at.
