[contrib] Volunteering to moderate...

Forum moderators

just in case you need another pair of watchful eyes, I’m prepared to take on moderation duties on the forum. I’ve seen one too many spam messages and stand ready to pick up arms against them should you decide to take me as an ally.

Best regards,

Steve

Re: [contrib] Volunteering to moderate...

Thanks. I’ve assigned moderation roles to both of you for the forums I deemed fit.

Re: [contrib] Volunteering to moderate...

Great! Happy to help. Where do I find out which forums I have to help moderate…?

The trouble is, moderators cannot ban spammers… and just deleting their posts is not enough (according to Mary’s instructions).

I really feel that ruud and wet shouldn’t have to be the only ones to take care of spammers – they must be busy enough developing ;) – but I don’t know if it’s possible to give moderators the privileges to do that as well.

I don’t ban people. I just delete all their posts and the user account.

Re: [contrib] Volunteering to moderate...

I see, but we can’t do that either. Moderators can only delete posts in the forum(s) they moderate, or move posts elsewhere from there. That’s all…

Hi I am also volunteer to moderate the French and Arabic part of the forum if you want. (there is a multiple message from Thierry68 to delete)

Cheers

Re: [contrib] Volunteering to moderate...

Deleting users isn’t a lot of work, as long as spam is reported using the “report” link and the spam message is still there when we have to decide whether to remove the user or not. I checked the forum administration settings and do not see an option to give moderators the right to delete users.

Probably very wise :) No problem, we’ll go on reporting.
