[superseded] rah_if_gps
Rah_if_gps has been superseded by other much more powerful plugins. Please take a look to projects such as rah_function, smd_if and adi_gps. Don’t forget core tags as variable, its conditional equivalent if_variable and page_url.

Re: [superseded] rah_if_gps
A plugin with the exact same functionality already exists: chs_if_urlvar
Also:
rah_if_title = swf_if_empty
rah_codeoff = etz_striptags, sab_striphtml

Re: [superseded] rah_if_gps
I’m curious, why would you want to release a plugins that already exists?

Re: [superseded] rah_if_gps
That has happened before, as to why, well, beats me.
I’ve been observing the forum now for about two years, and I get the feeling, that quite a few new members tend to embark on ambitious, self-assigned solo-projects rather than team up with other developers on existing projects, that might be more profitable for the entire user base in the long run. The various admin facelift attempts come to mind.

Re: [superseded] rah_if_gps
I believe smd_if does this functionality as well.
I find that if a Google or Textpattern Resources search comes up with nothing then a question in the How do I …? forum is always worth a go.
Which, oddly enough, I’m just about to do …

gomedia, what are you talking about? :D
Also some ppl don’t understand that neckpicking is lame. Who ever can do anykind of plugin, and no one is able to judge’em. Most of all it’s GPL – and making plugins is way to learn code – for some. Geez.
Also, I don’t have mass amount of plugins that do exactly same thing than some other plugin. Minus rah_if_gps – but there is difference too: usage of code and support of <txp:else />
.
And i have that mass amount of total around 30 free plugins for TXP. With closed/beta ones, it is close to 75.
btw, smd_if is 6 months newer ;)

No offence intended and certainly no nitpicking … just adding to the list of alternatives.

OT: I agree that this plugin’s perfect if you just need to check URL vars. Why bother with all the extra functionality and potential speed impact of all the tests that smd_if can perform when all you want to do is check if a URL var exists or not? This is undoubtedly the right tool for the job in those situations; it’s light, nimble and does the job very well.
In a sort of belated answer to masa, I love the fact people can choose which solution fits their needs; it’s testament to the power of plugins in TXP, hurrah! I definitely look around before making one to see if it can save me some bother: e.g. before looking at my recent admin theme endeavours I scoped out the ‘competition’ (as it were) to see if it was worth doing. Nemoorange kindly shared his upcoming plugin with me, which fills a very nice little niche for CSS-only admin side theming (I then offered to collaborate with him on my proposed project and release it under his plugin prefix, since it was an extension of his work).
There were also the dashboards to consider like aro_myadmin which offers something similar in a much more clever manner. But I ultimately decided there was room for something else so my effort is somewhat simpler, fits between them — with overlap — and also opens up the possibility for others to make a better job of it, if the core mod is approved. If nobody else uses it, what the hell, I will!
FWIW, the reason I started smd_if was not to snub Gocom or Noam’s efforts at plugin making but because I wanted support for generic var checking and chs_if_urlvar didn’t support <txp:else />
. Great minds, eh Gocom… ;-)
And now we return to our regular broadcast…
