simple lightbox gallery for client
Hi,
I have been reading about all the lightbox and gallery plugins, and searching in the forum, but cant really find the right combination for what I am looking for.
My client doesnt really know much about webdesign, so I need it to be really simple.
All I need is a way for him to upload an image, then upload a thumnail for that image, and then select a category, click save, and that thumbnail would be displayed in the portfolio section, next to all the rest of the thumbnails he uploaded.
The full size image has to be opened using a lightbox.
Did someone manage to do something this simple?
Thanks!

Re: simple lightbox gallery for client
I’ve done something like that, albeit without Lightbox, using smd_gallery
You would need to modify the posted form to work with Lightbox, but basically it works like this.
- client creates a new image category
- each image is uploaded and assigned the new category
- client creates a new article and types the category name in a custom field and saves article
That’s it.
By the way, Textpattern creates thumbnails automatically.

Thanks Masa
I will give that a test
I know textpattern creates thumbnails, but when its for a portfolio, you need a portion of the image to be in the thumbnail, to make it atractive, and that cant be done with textpattern, or is there a plugin for that ? :)

No, the best you can do in Textpattern is to crop the thumbs to a square. Otherwise you’ll have to resort to manual work.
By the way, here’s the link for the final version of smd_gallery and the documentation with plenty of examples including Lightboxed ones.

I am also using smd_gallery for this. Any images added to a particular category are automatically included in the gallery.
Piwik Dashboard, Google Analytics Dashboard, Minibar, Article Image Colorpicker, Admin Datepicker, Admin Google Map, Admin Colorpicker
