Static site in categories and something like archive in category link

I’m sure it’s very simple, but it seems I do not fully understand an idea of Textpattern (I try, but I’m very old, 32 yr so don’t have much time, and I want to finish my site before I’ll die).
I would like to make 2 simple things

1. When I click on category link, I would like to have static site
there with many of links to different articles (something like
http://processing.org/reference/index.html – ofc this is not
textpattern). So where is the typical form to edit categories?

2. When I click on another category, I would like to have something
like Archive (ex. http://processing.org.pl/archives) – mean: dynamic
site with title of category’s articles with date and excerpt. So ones
again, where is SOMETHING what could I edit to change CATEGORY site,
and what do I have to use to make something like I described above?
