How can I change the filename?

I am looking for a way to change the name of a loaded file. The name field isn’t editable, and even if I replace the file, the original name is kept. Is there anyway to change it?

I’ve resorted to renaming the file and then editing the database directly to match. Not exactly a very nice solution, but I need to keep the ID of the files the same. (I don’t want to re-attach the file to lots of articles!)

Unfortunately for some reason that remains a mystery to me, the “name of files” is a big political issues where I am!
